House System
At Pacific World School, the House System is a cornerstone of our school culture, designed to foster a sense of community, camaraderie, and healthy competition among students. Each student is assigned to one of three houses (from Class I onwards), which become their extended family within the school.
These houses are-
Columbia
Named after the Columbia River in North America. Columbia House symbolizes the dynamic and lively nature of learning and educational activities.
Daintree
Inspired by the Daintree River, this house represents growth, vitality, harmony, and balance, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of indigenous people.
Fraser
Fraser House is named after the Fraser River, a lifeline in the west, symbolizing a vibrant, stimulating, and nurturing environment that fosters positivity, learning, and creativity among students and educators alike.
Objectives of the House System
- Promote Team Spirit: By participating in various inter-house competitions, students develop a strong sense of belonging and teamwork.
- Encourage Leadership: Each house is led by student leaders, providing opportunities for students to develop and exercise their leadership skills.
- Foster Personal Growth: The house system supports personal development through diverse activities that challenge students both academically and socially.
- Build Community: The houses provide a smaller, close-knit community within the larger school, helping students form lasting friendships and support networks.
House Activities
Our house activities are diverse and designed to cater to a wide range of interests. These activities include:
Sports Competitions: From soccer to table tennis, students compete in various sports to earn points for their house.
Academic Challenges: Quiz bowls, spelling bees, and debates encourage intellectual growth and house pride.
Cultural Events: Talent shows, art exhibitions, dance competitions, and music competitions showcase the diverse talents within each house.
Leadership and Mentorship
Each house is guided by a team of dedicated headmasters/headmistresses, along with student leaders such as house captains and prefects. These leaders play a crucial role in organizing house events, mentoring younger students, and fostering a positive and inclusive house culture.
The House System at Pacific World School is more than just a tradition; it is a vibrant part of our school identity that helps students grow into well-rounded individuals. Through the House System, students learn invaluable life skills such as leadership, teamwork, and resilience, which will serve them well beyond their school years.
